corinne bailey rae

i do not have pictures. i am quite sorry. i am just in the mood for a quick update.

yesterday i went to my best friend's brother's graduation party. good fun. i spent about five to six hours with her and her family. it was good to see her again. we may go out walking later this week on main streets and that would be quite pleasant.

the boy celebrated his 18th birthday thursday (even though it was wednesday). and his third degree black belt ceremony was today! it was so cool!!! i also got to hang out with his for a couple hours today which was a joy!

tomorrow i'm planning on ice cream at the farm with three of my friends (maybe more). and tuesday we are doing the same thing but this time with my boy.

before i go to the farm, i'm going to run then take a shower. yes, i'm starting to run. i need to get into shape. i'm content with my weight but i would like to get into better shape and be a lot healthier (yes, with ice cream).

tuesday charles will come over and we'll catch up. sometime this week the best friend and i are going to go walk around main street (hopefully). friday is the high school graduation for the boy, the best friend's brother and several of my friends. i am quite excited to see them all graduate!!

on the knitting front, i am currently working on the summertime tunic from interweave knits free patterns. its a little slow to start (cast on 206 stitches) but i'm sure once i get really into it, it won't be too bad. its worked on size 6 us needles. a little tiny, but not too bad. i'm working it up in tlc cotton plus lavender (51% cotton, 49% acrylic).

my friend gave me this cd by corinne bailey rae and i'm enjoying it greatly.

sorry for the randomness, i'll try for pictures soon.

night all.

welcome back?

this will be quick, no pictures (for i don't have any).

life is alright. i finished the semester with a 3.5 gpa (it will probably raise to a 3.7 once i get two of my grades fixed). i'm taking an art history class for five weeks. not bad. i'm learning things. i can now hold a conversation about art with my best friend (or at least i think i can).

my boy is getting to be a man (though i will always call him 'boy'). he turns 18 in only a couple hours. he received his 3rd degree black belt in tae kwon do! he received a scholarship for being named Mr. -enter high school's name-. i am very proud of him.

my best friend is home from college and i'm quite excited. i'm sure we'll be spending a lot of time together in the next few weeks.

other than that. i'm working on two items currently. a christmas sweater and a tank top. yes, an odd combination.

but for now i must depart.

violence is what i'm refraining from.

i'm quite tired so i'll try and make this as fast as possible.

first, i promised pictures of my prom dress (for the boy's prom) so friends so this is what it looks like so far if i didn't have arms and had a tattoo on my chest:

this is the bottom. i'd show the entire dress but it looks funky on the dummy and looks much better on me. sadly, i am not in any possession of the pictures where i'm in it. mind you, this is not the bottom bottom, this hits right above my knee, fabric has been sewn on to flair out at the bottom. think 1920's:

right now i'm really excited to go to prom. it is not until may 18th but i'm so excited. may is a pretty good month for me. first, this friday, i'll be attending a banquet for student government. sadly, my boy could not attend due to musical practice so i will be taking my best male friend as an alternative boy for the evening. saturday, i get to hang out with the boy for several hours. his mother and i are finishing the dress and then we head to the comedy club where he will preform. then sunday is a carnival type arrangement at school and i will be helping out there. then may 14th is the our (boy and i, together) three year anniversary. i have some tricks up my sleeve for that one!

then, prom is that friday. i'm more excited for the long weekend down the shore. but, as long as i get to dress up and parade around then go for some beach, i'm happy!

the following pictures are those i took today ('cause its finally spring and sunny) before i fell into bed to attempt to take a nap. (you thought you gave up naps when you were a child, until you got to college.):

model one.

model two.

i know, not perfect but it was the best i could do by myself. when i get some friends back over the summer, i plan to take several pictures! this is a shrug that i started knitting around the beginning of april maybe. took me probably about 50+ hours and i enjoy it very much! its a wool-acrylic blend (go easy wash) though since it is getting warm around here, its getting a bit too hot to wear. (i want to make the next one, 'cause i plan on knitting it again, out of cotton.)

i'm very satisfied with it. it is my first real piece of clothing that turned out really well that i own that i made! joy!

i am almost caught up on the cast on pod cast. shortly i will be up to date and that makes me happy. but i've been crazy with school and finals and everything that i haven't had time for anything else but sleep and studying.

i met with one of my professors today to look over my test grade. it wasn't so hot but i didn't go for the grade, i went to see what i got right vs. what i got wrong and if they were stupid mistakes. three or four out of the seven or so were number mistakes (apparently, it is appropriate to study the statistics of a certain percentage of people in the criminal system in sociology). though he told me i'd be able to get an a if i did well on tomorrow's presentation. so here's hoping!!

on other news, as i said, finals are coming up next week and everything is winding down. (thank god!) i 've had my last computer class of my life and all i need to do is finish writing a paper and take the exam. tomorrow i will finish sociology, english and statistics (joy to the world!) then friday i finish western civilizations and public speaking!

(most random thing, some dumb child is driving around the neighborhood honking his horn. i assume it is a "he" 'cause the he's are the "special-er" ones of our species.)

life will be back to normal shortly and i will be happy!

but for now, i am going to finish up my english paper, procrastinate on my computer paper and take a shower.

good night folks.

avid & death defying

no pretty pictures as of yet. sad, i know. but this will be quick.

it is late and i am tired though i feel the strong need to write. about something. so here i go:

we (the fiber arts club) had a meeting today to go over the constitution. it went well. i made new friends and i am happy.

i didn't get to go to dinner with my boy until wednesday which was probably for the better. we spent the whole after school together.

wednesday during the day i went shopping with my mother to old navy and the mall. i enjoyed our time together. we will do it again soon.

i am so tired and that was so random and i need more people to read my blog or else this is pointless.

night.

@ the desk.

right now i have an hour and ten minutes to spare waiting for a committe meeting to ban smoking on our college campus. not that big of a deal since we are a community college but it may be difficult to pull off.

i'm in the office just playing around (that's why i have the time to be here) and being bored in general. i'm waiting for the boy to call. he left for florida several days ago and finally came home last night (almost this morning i assure). so he will mostlikely be taking me out to dinner to tell me stories, show me pictures and present me with gifts and food. i am overjoyed that i will be receiving dinner food in only a few short hours (and to see my love of course)!

but alas, i have no service on my cell in the office. a pitty i must say. especially since he doesn't know the office number (though i must admit that i barely know it either but it is 1510 if you are interested).

i finished the shrug from classic knits and it is quite nice. it is the first fully knitted and clothed piece i've made for my self and it fits a lot better than i anticipated. at first it didn't look so good but once i threw it in the since to wash and let it air dry in my car (for it was super hot in there) and it fits really nice now. though i tug on it a bit.
i will post pictures shortly.

i am beginning the short-sleeved ribbed lace sweater from vintage knits. i am currently knitting the swatch.

and people are now here and i must run away.

sunflower frames and store credit.

hello! sorry it has been a while. busy busy busy! i figured, i caught up on homework and knitting (though i should be knitting more right now) and the boy, who i've decided to call "c," is leaving for florida in several hours and will be stopping by to say, "i love you."

okay. to catch up. last weekend, c's mother, sister, c himself and i went out to a fabric store to buy fabric for my prom dress which his mother is designing (mostly) and sewing. i'm so excited! afterwards, we went out to this restaurant/food store and c bought me a handful of sunflowers:

sunflower's are my favorite and they are so cheery!

this photo is a bit darker but i like the look. my favorite perfume is actually called "sunflower."

they were my easter gift. he feels the need to constantly get me flowers. and i'm perfectly fine with that.

moving on once again. these past few weeks have been so hectic. between english papers, computer projects, the constitution, the friends, the boy, the fun, and even more studying. makes me want to hang myself.

today, i went to another craft store to return several skeins of yarn that i did not want (a gift) and received store credit. i was shocked actually, i didn't have a receipt. but i got this wonderful yarn (cotton -acrylic blend) in this hazy purple. i'm knitting a lace short sleeve sweater from vintage knits. i'm so excited.

i've been working on this shawl from classic knits a lot recently and i only have one sleeve and the ribbing left. i'm hoping to have pictures up by this weekend. it hasn't been sunny here for day due to the stupid no'easter that happened mid-april? oh well.

not much else. i'm listening to the cast off podcast hosted by brenda dayne. love it! she's so funny and i enjoy her program greatly. i'm just finally catching up. i'm on 35 out of 46! yay!

i think i'm going to run. c will be here within the hour and i'd like to knit some.

have a wonderful evening.
